Future Directions - A Road Map Towards Our Next Century
Since our beginning in 1913 as the Vermilion School of Agriculture,Lakeland College has undergone many changes that enabled us to grow from our first class of 34 agriculture students to today annually serving 10,000 learners in a variety of programs and courses.
As we approach our centenary, it’s critical that we continue to look ahead and determine what must be done to best serve our students and our community while also wisely using public resources.
The development of Future Directions - A Road Map Towards Our Next Century began in March 2007. Approximately 300 staff, students, business and community members participated in focus groups in Vermilion, Lloydminster and Wainwright. The College’s mission, vision and values were cornerstones of all discussion.
After reviewing information from the 20 focus groups, seven themes were identified and presented to the College community for further examination.
The Board of Governors then agreed to six goals and developed initiatives to achieve each goal. The final version was approved in February 2008.
We’ve outlined ambitious yet attainable goals that will help us continue to inspire excellence. Future Directions - A Road Map Towards Our Next Century focuses on sustainability and enrichment of programs, financial resources and facilities. It also provides direction for creating an environment where our students and employees can thrive. This is our road map as we work towards 2013.
