(Vermilion, Alta. – March 13, 2012) Chalk up another $125,000 to create more student scholarships and awards at Lakeland College thanks to a donation received from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
The CIBC donation was received in support of Lakeland’s centennial endowment and scholarship fundraising campaign. The college will celebrate its centenary in 2013.
Ed Kohel, manager of corporate development at Lakeland, says the donation is indicative of the importance that the corporate sector places on the need to attract top-quality students and to recognize their accomplishments. “The donation will enable the college to offer more top-quality programming and to continue to prepare graduates to enter the workforce as confident and knowledgeable leaders and employees,” says Kohel.
CIBC has been a long-standing good service provider to Lakeland College. Its support of Lakeland’s centennial is just another example of a great corporate citizen that believes in the smaller Canadian communities and are "walking the talk" as they reinvest in the educational value of the youth of today and tomorrow, says Phil Allen, vice president of advancement at Lakeland College.
“At CIBC we are committed to supporting students at Lakeland College throughout their academic pursuits and beyond as they enter the workforce,” says Nicole Davis, senior manager, Community Investment, Western Canada at CIBC. “We are proud to support the education and development of Alberta’s future leaders. CIBC knows that business education and acumen are critical for future success. We are pleased to support student scholarships and awards that will help students acquire business training and skills to apply to their future career goals to help the Lakeland College region, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Canada prosper for future generations. CIBC – For What Matters!”
