Thanks to the RJ Nelson Family Foundation, Lakeland College is pleased to announce the new Bill Kondro Entrance Scholarship for Excellence. The recipient must display leadership qualities combined with a good balance between academic excellence and high school, community and extracurricular involvement. Preference will be given to students from the Lloydminster area.
The first scholarship will be awarded in the fall of 2008.

The college will also apply to have the proceeds matched with funds from the Alberta government’s new Access to the Future program. .
College development coordinator Kristi Trefiak says the name of the scholarship has special meaning as it is honours a man who has demonstrated a long-time commitment to Lakeland College. He later was a member of the college’s Board of Governors from 1997 to 2003, serving three years as board chair. The new two-storey academic wing currently under construction at the college’s Lloydminster campus will also bear Kondro’s name..
