Key responsibilities:
• Ensure that the College’s new state of the art dairy operates efficiently and effectively
• Work with the farm team and provide support to the Animal Science Diploma program which includes a dairy specialization and the Dairy Student Managed Farm
• Work closely with the farm manager, faculty, and students in meeting the Dairy Student Managed Farm learning objectives

Dairy Herdsperson
Competition No: 18-2528-002

Key responsibilities:
•    Day-to-day operations of the dairy including milking, breeding, calving and calf care, assisting and directing students
•    Running the proper startup operations of milking equipment, ensuring that the cows are milked out properly and thoroughly, as well as that all milking equipment is kept clean and up to standards
•    Calves must be properly tagged and processed as required, administer medication or treatment when needed
•    All breeding dates, pregnancy result, vaccination dates, heat dates, and birth dates are to be maintained on animal records
•    When the dairy unit coordinator is unavailable, the herdsperson is responsible for feeding the cows or arranging other reliable farm staff to feed in their absence
•    Assist the dairy unit coordinator in the maintenance of waters, manure handling equipment, feed bunks, feeders, shelters, parlors equipment, etc. for all animal welfare    
•    Assist farm technicians with bedding, treating, moving or any other farm related duties that are required on a daily basis
 
Job Requirements:
•    Post-secondary agriculture related education, preferably Diploma in Animal Science
•    Dairy experience and knowledge of farm equipment operation highly desirable
•    Manual labour and shift work is required
•    Ability to perform artificial insemination would be an asset

This is a Full-time Permanent AUPE appointment at the Vermilion Campus commencing July 1, 2017. The current salary range is $45,625 - $57,497 per annum and includes a generous benefit package and pension plan.

These casual AUPE appointments are to commence as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2016, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. The department operates year round, seven days per week, 24 hours per day, with three different shifts each 24 hour period. The day shift is 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the evening shift is 4:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. and the night shift is 12:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The successful candidates will be required to work up to a maximum of 32 hours per week (4 shifts) during the period of Monday to Sunday.















































The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and must be bondable. Security experience would an asset, but we are willing to train. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with the Alberta Basic Security Training Certificate. Campus Patrol Officers (Vermilion) Competition No: 17-3401-001WB
Lakeland College invites applications for Campus Patrol Officers at the Vermilion campus. Responsibilities will be to ensure the safety and security of students and staff during off-hours (evenings and weekends), and to patrol, inspect, and respond to any unusual situations in and around campus buildings and grounds.

These casual AUPE appointments are to commence as soon as possible and end June 30, 2017, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. The department operates year round, seven days per week, 24 hours per day, with two different shifts available. The evening shift begins at 4:15 p.m. and ends at 12:15 a.m. and the night shift begins at 12:15 a.m. and ends at 8:15 a.m. You may be required to work up to a maximum of 32 hours per week.

The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and must be bondable. Security experience would an asset, but we are willing to train. These are casual AUPE appointments, at the Vermilion campus, commencing as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2017, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. Hours may vary.
