Call the shots on the livestock side of Lakeland’s Student-Managed Farm (SMF).

That’s not until 2nd year. You’ll start with practical skills and business record basics. This includes:
  • Managing livestock feed, health and welfare
  • Handling sheep, beef and dairy cattle safely
  • Artificially inseminating cattle
  • Assisting with calving and lambing
  • Keeping agricultural business record
  • Assessing key economics to develop business plans and market livestock
Then you’ll put your hands-on training in animal husbandry and livestock business management to work. You’ll connect to the sector of your choice as a member of a SMF team.

End result: you’ll have the leadership and hands-on skills to be effective in the livestock industry
