Appraisal & Assessment Major – Lloydminster Campus

Appraisal and Assessment isn't a new program for Lakeland College as our grads have been pursuing successful careers for over 3 decades. However, there are two big changes for the 2011-12 academic year.

The first change is location--the program will move from its long-time home in Vermilion, to the Lloydminster campus. The second is that appraisal and assessment will be one of five majors offered in a business administration diploma.

Your first year includes some basic business courses. Through the 2 years you'll take courses that will get you ready to work in both urban and rural settings in property tax assessment, with a municipality, private industry, real estate, tax appeal agencies, mortgage lending operations and public or private appraising. Your training will include assessment principles, computerized mass appraisal valuation of properties, farmland evaluation and property analysis.

Graduates will also receive a Certificate in Real Property Assessment from the University of British Columbia.

As a program graduate, you'll also be granted:
  • course exemption toward municipal assessor designations in Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • course exemptions toward the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers
  • course exception toward the Canadian Residential Appraiser designation
  • selected courses have been recognized toward the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute designation
  • course exemption towards either of these international designations--Residential Evaluation Specialist or Certified Assessment Evaluator
