With a class called play you know you're getting what you need to work with children from infants to age 12. This basic background in play strategies is combined with human development, nutrition, and curriculum planning to make you a valuable support member of a child care facility or program.
You learn to assist in the care of young children by designing appropriate activity and meal/snack plans and with positive behaviour management strategies within child care regulations.
Put what your learn in class to work with two 5-week practicum placements. Our students have even done international practicums.
Successfully completing the certificate program qualifies you for Level 2 of the Day Care Staff Qualifications from Alberta or ECE II from Saskatchewan Education.
