Prepare for a career in signed language interpreting with this full-time, 2-year diploma program.

You learn through a blend of classroom time, supervised fieldwork and immersion experiences.  Part of that immersion is where your classrooms are: the Alberta School for the Deaf in Edmonton.

Your course work isn’t just about American Sign Language fluency. You’ll:
  • study English
  • explore professional and ethical interpreting practices
  • practice interpreting theory
  • learn how to establish your own interpreting practice
  • hone interpersonal skills

Your courses are sequential. You show you've master particular skills before you move on to the next challenge.

Your final course is a 12-week community internship.

When you graduate, you’ll have entry level skills and are ready to start a signed language interpreter career.
