Community Mental Health – Post-Credential Certificate – Online

Mental Health Practitioner program onlineIf you work with people, from infants to seniors, you will encounter mental health issues.

Lakeland's community mental health certificate program can help you support clients and patients.

Learn tools to help you help others who are dealing with addictions, depression, trauma and other issues and illnesses.

Our post-credential, online program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to work effectively with everyday mental health and wellness issues.

The program focuses on:
  • awareness and prevention
  • supportive intervention
  • treatment strategies
  • advocacy and collaboration with community partners
This online program is designed for anyone who already has a degree, diploma or certificate. Courses can be taken part-time. There are 9 courses plus a final practicum placement where you can put what you've learned to work.

Note: Alberta Advanced Education granted credit status to the program in 2016.

You should have completed a minimum of 30 post secondary credits and have studied courses including: 
  • Human development or introductory psychology
  • Interpersonal communications

    Tuition and Fees

    Each course has a fee of $423.80. The practicum fee is $297.80. Text book costs will vary depending on the course.

    Student Aid Eligibility

    Online programs are delivered on a part-time basis and are not eligible for full time government student loans. However, you may be eligible for part-time student aid.

    If you are an Alberta residence, check out the province's student aid part-time student eligibility page for more information and application. If you aren't from Alberta, please contact your provincial student aid office.
     

    Withdrawal and Refund Policy:

    You will receive a full refund less a per course $100 administration fee if you withdraw within the first two weeks of your course start date. Please note: Lakeland College reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment.
