Electrician - Further Study
For example, after 3 years as a journeyman you can qualify as a Master Electrician. You may apply to the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta for this designation.
In Alberta a valid Master Electrician Identification Number is required in order to pull electrical work permits.
Lakeland College offers a master electrician certification course, usually on weekends during the winter.
Lakeland College also offers a variety of other electrical courses with flexible dates and times. One of those courses is electrician red seal preparation (see drop down below)

You also have the option of earning Blue and Red Seals.
|This Alberta certification encourages journeymen to study business. Earning your seal requires 150 hours of study at an approved institution. Lakeland qualifies. See the Blue and Red Seal page.|
|Your Red Seal indicates you’ve passed an Inter-provincial exam and can work in any part of Canada.
The construction electrician Red Seal has been around since 1959.
