Tours and more

You'll want to take a tour--or two, or three--when you visit the Vermilion campus. Tours are always popular during Open House. Mark Friday Oct. 26 and Sat. Oct 27 for the 2012 Open House.

Complete campus tours as well as specific residence, farm and Emergency Training Centre tours will all be on the agenda.  You'll have time to go all the places you want to see.

Agricultural Sciences

Friday & Saturday

  • View program displays and interactive activities in the Mead Building all day 9 am - 4 pm both Friday and Saturday.
  • Farm Tour  - 10 am & 1 pm - meet in the cafeteria
  • Small Animal Clinic Guided Tours - 11 am  & 2 pm - Tour the small animal clinic where students take part in radiology and surgery labs. Meet in the cafeteria
  • Plants & Weeds Identification - 9 am - 4 pm - Academic Link 146. Can you pick out a weed from a productive plant?
  • Play the Farming Game with agribusiness students  - 1:30 - 3:30 in MB112. Can you make a profit?
  • Beef Nutrition Demo - 1:30 - 2:30 pm - Bull Test Station
  • Sheep Demo - 11 am - noon - Sheep & Beef Facility - See some of the industry's newest technology and equipment in this sheep lab.

Friday only

  •  8:30 - 10:30 am - Anatomy lab  with Vet Medical Assistant students in MB 113
  • 10:30 am - 12:30 pm - Hematology Lab  -  Bentley Building
  • 10:30 am - 12:30 pm - Horse Lab - Indoor Riding Arena

If you want to see the Rustlers in action--there's a double header of volleyball and basketball games on Saturday in Lloydminster starting at 1 pm with women's volleyball. Volleyball only on Friday evening starting at 6 pm. Admission is free both days!
Campus Tours
Take a guided tour of the campus. See the classrooms, check out the labs, visit the Recreation Centre and more. All campus tour participants will be entered in a draw to win a $1,000 tuition credit.

Interior Design Technology
Take part in one the drop in classes from 9 am - 4 pm on the 2nd floor of the Bentley Building, Interior Design Hallway on Friday.

  • Apply online or ask for an application form because if you apply during Open House, we'll waive the application fee! A library computer lab is designated for online applications during Open House.
Trades and Technology

Try-A-Trade 

From 9 am - 4 pm in the Auto/Diesel Lab & the Pit (student lounge in Trades wing)
  • Automotive Service Technician - Experience the thrill of 500 horsepower - listen to the high performance engine in operation.
  • Automotive Service Technician - Solder a Souvenir - make a souvenir by using an electric soldering gun and a carabineer!
  • Heavy Equipment Technology - Run a Backhoe - operate an actual backhoe. Pick up and place tires to win prizes.
  • Carpentry - Walk the wall - come and see what that means
  • Electrical/Instrumentation - Extend Your Reach - we will have various interactive demonstrations for you to try! Compete against the clock and each other.
  • Steamfitter/Pipefitter - Play with Pipe - "Stash your Cash" by making your own toonie bank. Test your knowledge of the tools of the trade.
  • Welding - Fusion or No Fusion? That is the question - Find out as you attempt basic fillet welds.
Inclusive Post-secondary Education - Friday in Vermilion
Learn about inclusive post-secondary education at Lakeland College in a session with a powepoint presentation, open question period and handouts.

You'll learn what it is and what kind of support is offered to students with developmental disabilities.

Offered once per campus from 10 am to noon
  • Friday in Vermilion in the Fireside Room
  • Saturday in Lloydminster in Room 2017
Visit our Bookstore for Lakeland College gear
Lakeland College's Bookstore will be open regular hours from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday as well as from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday. Check out the great selection of Lakeland clothing items as well as giftware.
Model Office - Office Administration
It's not your typical desk and chair classroom, even thought it has both. The office administration program's model office will be open all day both days for you to stop by and see.

Come and sit in on a class on Friday or just check out the facility on Saturday.
