Entrance Testing - Special Admissions -- Academic Prep Modules

Our admission requirements are important. They are in place to give you the best chance of success.
At the same time, we also realize that our students come from a variety of educational backgrounds and aren't all fresh out of high school.
This is why we have special admissions, or entrance testing, .
If you don't meet the academic requirements, we will consider what your do have. If you are missing a program requirement, we'll refer you to entrance testing and or academic prep modules. These are free services.
Most important is that we look at each applicant and application individually. After our evaluation we'll recommend a best course of action.
These standardized math, English and science exams can be written before or after you take one or more of our online academic prep modules.

If you meet the required grade level in the test, you will be considered for acceptance into your program.
But please note, these tests aren't accepted by another post-secondary institution for their admission requirements.
Special admissions
If you don't meet one or more of the admission requirements, the following considerations may be given:
  1. The high school diploma requirement will be waived if you meet all the other requirements.
  2. The high school English requirement for any program may be waived, if you successfully complete Lakeland College’s standardized English test
  3. The high school math requirement for any program may be waived, if you successfully complete Lakeland College’s standardized math test
  4. The high school science requirement (Grade 11 level only) for selected programs may be waived, if you successfully complete Lakeland College’s science modules and test

About the standardized entrance tests
Our standardized entrance tests are Canadian Achievement Tests/Cognitive Abilities Tests (CAT).
Tests are available for all levels of high school English and math, and only for grade 11 science.

These entrance tests don't work as entrance requirements to another post-secondary institution

Academic Prep
If you are missing a required course or courses, one option to getting accepted is by taking one or more academic prep modules. You would be referred to this service after your application and transcripts have been reviewed.
Our academic prep modules help you prepare for entrance screening or entrance testing exams.
