Lakeland College Students' Association, Vermilion Campus - Supporting Lakeland for Years
The Students’ Association Council is a combination of elected and hired student executives who represent the students on several college committees.
The SA provides services such as the day-planner, faxing and awards and bursaries. They also provide applications for student travel cards and free income tax return preparation.
The SA is in charge of many activities such as dances, BBQs, stress busters, free snacks, etc.
The Lakeland College Students’ Association, Vermilion Campus is responsible for a number of awards and bursaries as well.
The Student Participation Memorial Award was established in 1978. This award was started in memory of three Lakeland College students who passed away in a car accident on their way to Lloydminster. The friends had dressed up for the evening, had supper in the old Vermilion cafeteria, and then decided to go out to Lloydminster for the evening. This award was the first Vermilion Students’ Association award to be established.
The Student Participation Memorial Award is awarded to a full-time student at the Vermilion campus who has been actively involved in student life in a variety of ways. Some of these ways are as follows:
• Participating in clubs and special events
• Contributing support for student functions by planning, organizing and working
• Volunteering for student life activities
Students interested in this award must be nominated by students or staff. Nomination forms will be made available by the Students’ Association office with final selection made by the SA Council.
