Champions years
Scott L. Treffry Memorial Fund & Ellis and Donna Treffry support the Scott L. Treffry Memorial Award.

Scott L. Treffry was a student at Lakeland College in the fall of 1985. Scott completed the pre-employment Mechanics program and received his first year accreditation towards a journeyman certificate.

Scott was killed in a tragic accident the following year. His parents and friends determined that the memorial donations could be put to best use by supporting another student with the same goals as Scott had.

The Scott L. Treffry Memorial Award was established 1987 and is awarded to a student enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Technician program, Vermilion campus. To be eligible for this award, the student must display a desire to achieve, display a mechanical ability and possess good work ethic in the classroom and workplace. The students must also achieve overall performance combining both academic and practical shop.

There is no application process necessary for this award. The recipient is recommended by the Trades and Technology faculty with final approval from the Awards Committee. The award is presented at Awards Night in Vermilion.
