You can think about giving as something you give today, such as cash, or something you give tomorrow, a gift that you plan. Whatever type of gift you give will make a positive difference to Lakeland College students.

Our most common gift is simply cash. It’s an easy way for you to show your support for Lakeland College students and programs. You may direct your gift to a particular project or program, or tell us to put it to use where it’s most needed. That’s a big advantage of cash gift—we can use it immediately. | Employee Matching Gifts | |

Your employer may have a corporate gift-matching program. Many of these programs multiply what you give as your employer matches that donation. Your company's personnel or human resources department can let you know if they have a corporate gift-matching program. | Event Sponsorship | |
|
Lakeland College is a busy place with numerous events on each campus every year. Some of those events are fundraisers, such as the annual Rustlers Athletics Golf Classic. We also host conferences, meetings and sporting events. Each event will have different sponsorship levels and different audiences from student to general community. For example, if you’re interested in Rustler Athletics opportunities include year-round gym banners, website ads, game day programs and game day sponsors. | Gifts-in-Kind | |
|
Donations of products or services can be very useful in enhancing a program or a special event. We are able to use almost any sort of gifts-in-kind from diesel engines to microscopes to advertising. A gift-in-kind may also include property. Both during your lifetime and through your will, you may donate property to a charity. Other examples include equipment, software, artwork, shares and real estate, as well as life insurance or a residual interest in real property. If your gift isn’t immediate, please see our planned giving section. A gift-in-kind is normally valued at its fair market value. Tax receipts for your donated property or equipment work in the same way as they do for a gift of cash. See the gifts-in-kind page for more details. | Gifts of Appreciated Securities | |
|
Publicly listed securities that have grown in value since they were first purchased offer special benefits for charitable giving. Donors who contribute any appreciated stocks and bonds of companies listed on prescribed stock exchanges will be able to significantly reduce the amount of capital gains tax otherwise payable on such securities, as only 25% of the gain will have to be brought into income. The same securities sold publicly would trigger a capital gains tax in Canada calculated on 50% of the realized gain. When you make a gift of appreciated securities you receive an official tax receipt for the fair market value of the gift, based on the value of the securities on the date of transfer to the Lakeland College Foundation. | Gifts of Cultural Property | |
|
If you have a significant piece of Canadian culture, you’d like donate to Lakeland College, then your gift may also give you a tax benefit. The cultural property in question must be certified by the government as being of cultural significance to Canada. The donation will be equal to the property’s fair market value for purposes of the credit but no taxable capital gain will result. Any capital loss that may arise may be deductible in some circumstances. If you have something from Lakeland College’s past, we’re always interested in your memorabilia, especially as we prepare for our centennial. | Payroll Deductions—Lakeland College Faculty and Staff | |
|
Lakeland College faculty and staff may choose to make their gift as a payroll deduction. Typically these are monthly and are arranged through human resources. If you’re interested this type of donation, you need to fill out an internal pledge card and then choose contribute through payroll deduction. Once your pledge is completed, it is sent to human resources. You’re sent a confirmation when the paperwork is done. Pledge cards are available from the advancement office in Lloydminster or Vermilion. We can help you fill out the form if you need assistance. Uniquely honour a birth, a birthday, an anniversary or any other special occasion with a gift to Lakeland College.
