Message from the Alumni Association President
This should be an exciting time for alumni of all decades. As the college approaches its 100th year in 2013, now is the time to start your planning of how you can celebrate this milestone.
Now is the time to start connecting with your classmates to start plans for class reunions in 2013. Take a little bit of time to read through that old yearbook! What?...you can’t find it?...don’t worry.…the alumni office has extra copies. Just give Darla a call.
Don’t forget to tell the alumni office where you are now, and how they can get a hold of you. Some people spent two or more years at college; some spent only a day or two; everyone is welcome to revisit their individual memories, and it sure helps to have others to jumpstart some of those almost forgotten ones, even the visits to the Deans or Principals office and what led to such an event.
Hunt in those old storage spots for any memorabilia that you might have. Let me assure you that others will love to see your old “stuff” from college, so bring it along when you come to celebrate our 100th anniversary in 2013.
Your alumni association has already started on doing the same. I am sure you will be in for some real surprises. If you have any ideas of what can be done to celebrate, please tell us…maybe together we can make it happen. Between now and the centennial, the alumni association wants to focus on involving the younger alumni, and assist in forming chapters for the various trades, fire, campuses, sports, geographically distant alumni or other alumnus such as staff.. Help us out by volunteering to get this mission started.
We also want to put renewed effort into student assistance with more and new scholarships; Do you want to be involved with today’s students? Would you like to be a mentor? Today’s Lakeland College is a comprehensive and complex machine of learning which we should all be proud to be associated with. Past and present administration, governors, staff and students all have good reason to be boastful of the efforts “Ever to Excel”.
