What is Applied Research?
Applied research is a scholarly and/or scientific investigation or inquiry undertaken for practical purposes- it is about solving real problems.
Why do we do applied research?
Lakeland College personnel conduct applied research to expose students to real problem solving and to provide social and economic benefits to our community.
What do we do? How do we help?
We are here to be champions of applied research at Lakeland: to help build relationships between Lakeland researchers (problem solvers) and those with research needs (problems); to help find funding for applied research; and to facilitate the conduct of research and deal with the bureaucracy of research.

We provide advice on intellectual property including patents, and copyrights; and on technology transfer and commercializing innovation.
How do I get involved?

I have an idea and want to start a business. Can you help?

Of course!  Contact us to discuss your business idea and we'll help connect you with business support, financing, and other contacts.  We may also be able to help you prepare for business planning competitions, which could be a viable funding source for your idea.  appliedresearch@lakelandcollege.ca
