Lakeland’s unique capacity in emergency services training is a significant area of opportunity for the College (Vermilion). While we are not yet positioned to actively engage in large scale research projects in this area, we are exploring research opportunities related to the effectiveness and improvement of simulation training, expanding research projects on occupational health and safety issues and supportive technologies for emergency services personnel in partnership with the University of Alberta, testing prototype devices for emergency situations, and expanding scholarship in all areas of emergency services to increase the development of evidence-based best practices to improve response capabilities and deployment strategies.
