Lakeland College Performance Bull Test Station 2009-10
Lakeland College's bull test station has officially operated since 1984. It is both a practical laboratory for students and a service to farmers. The slide show below shows some of the activity from the 2010 Bull Test Sale in late March.

    Our bull test centre was established in 1980 as experiment. Its popularity with producers was immediately evident and resulted in the building the Jonathan Fox facility in 1984. Fox is an alumni who is known worldwide for his Justemere Herefords.

    2010 Results
    The 26th Annual Bull Sale was held Saturday, March 27. Of the 55 bulls eligible for the sale, 49 bulls went through the sales ring.

    The top selling bull was a Hereford bull that sold for $5,300.

    Attendance was good with more than 400 buyers on hand from across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

    The total gross of the 49 lots was $129,500 with an overall average of $2,642. The breakdown of the sale was:
    • 2 Shorthorns - average $2,625
    • 3 Speckle Parks - average $2,117
    • 7 Herefords - average $3,107
    • 7 Simmentals - average $2,478
    • 5 Charolais - average $2,330
    • 10 Red Angus - average $2,570
    • 15 Black Angus - average $2,743
