Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship

If you graduated from a Saskatchewan high school this year, there's a $500 scholarship with your name on it.

The Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship is open to anyone who graduated from a Saskatchewan high school after January 1, 2012. You can be studying either part or full time.

This scholarship covers the tuition owing per year to a maximum of $500 per year to a lifetime maximum of $2,000.

Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Anyone who graduated (including ABE and GED®) from a Saskatchewan high school on or after January 1, 2012.

If you went to school in Lloydminster--even if you live in Alberta--you also qualify for the scholarship.

You must be enrolled at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a program that is recognized for Canada-Saskatchewan student loans (certificate, diploma, and degree programs) or an apprenticeship program with an April 1, 2012 or later start date. Both Lakeland College campuses are included in eligibility.
How much is the scholarship?
It's a maximum of $500 per year to a lifetime maximum of $2,000.

For example:
  • If you are a full time student whose tuition is more than $500, you would get a $500 scholarship. You could qualify for another $500 during your second year of studies provided your tuition owing is $500 or more. This continues until you've received the $2,000 maximum
  • If you are a part-time student and owe $430 in tuition, then your scholarship would be $430.
How do I apply?
You don't have to apply. We'll do the paperwork and apply for the scholarship on your behalf.

We confirm your enrolment at Lakeland College, and receive verification from the Government of Saskatchewan whether you are eligible for the scholarship.

You might not want to take this scholarship if it affects your eligibility for other awards. If you do not want to receive the scholarship, you will need to contact the Government of Saskatchewan.
Is the scholarship deducted from my tuition?
All Saskatchewan students at Lakeland College will be expected to pay their full tuition on registration day.

However, a $500 credit will applied to your student account later in the semester. You may:
  • choose to keep the credit and apply it to additional tuition or residence fees
  • if you prepay your full year's tuition, you could be issued a cheque for the credit balance.

If you withdraw, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
