A variety of fitness classes are offered at the Lakeland College Recreation Centre as well as in the area. | Want to know what measurements tell about your body? The body composition assessment measures skin folds, height, weight and circumferences. Fee is $5.50. A good starting point before you start a fitness program and or diet. | |
| PARE Testing | ![]() |
|
Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE) is designed to simulate the most common demands of police work. It was developed by exercise scientists and is based on extensive research, including a thorough job analysis. There are three different stations where you complete a variety of activities within a set period of time or over a particular distance. Fee is $50. For at least two hours before the test, do not eat, drink caffine or smoke. 3. For at least six hours before the test, do not drink alcohol or exercise. 4. You must receive medical clearance from your doctor before you run the test. This is required even if you have run the test previously. You may not run the test if you failure to provide medical clearance at the time and date of your test. Fees are non-refundable. |

| Fitness Leadership Certification | ![]() |

The BFFL Centre offers Alberta Fitness Leader Certification Association (AFLCA) courses. Such certification allows you to be certified to lead fitness classes. Basic Fitness Theory is a prerequiste for all certifications. You may then branch in specialty areas such as group exercise, aquatic exercise, resistance training and fitness for the older adult. All these courses can also be taken for general interest. There are also special water works/joint works and ever active adult modules. | Kids Come Alive Programming for Schools | ![]() |

Allow Be Fit For Life to provide a unique and exciting experience for elementary and junior high students. Students will have to opportunity to get active in cooperative games and challenging fitness sessions using a variety of equipment. The goal of Kids Come Alive is to educate youth on team-work, fair-play, and self-confidence, while increasing their awareness of the benefits of living a healthy, active lifestyle.
