When should I request an interlibrary loan?

Resize Text:

When searching for a book, be sure to search the NEOS library catalogue from the main Lakeland College Library webpage. If you locate your required item in the catalogue, you can place a hold using the barcode from your student ID card and your PIN.

If you are unable to locate an item you need, you can request it via interlibrary loan. We will try to locate the item for you at another Canadian library and borrow it for you. Interlibrary loans may take up to 6 weeks to arrive, depending on where the item is coming from. Click here to login to our interlibrary loan service and fill in the form as directed.

When searching the databases, not all articles listed will be available in full text. To find out if the journal title is accessible via our databases or available in print/ejournal format, search the journal title publication finder page. To find out if an article is available via our databases, check the article title in the citation search page. If the article you wish to locate is not available full text, click the  Full Text Finder button below the article citation to be redirected to the interlibrary loan request  page. You will need to sign in to this page using your 13 digit library card number and PIN.

Articles generally take 2-3 business days to arrive. You will get an email letting you know when your article or book is available for pickup.
