Nearly 40 children aged 19 months to 5 years from the local community had their own live the learning experience at the Vermilion campus during Lakeland College’s play program hosted by second-year students in the early learning and child care program.
The play program runs for four weeks and is filled with age-appropriate activities designed to be challenging, engaging and fun!
Planned and organized by the college students, the play program serves as a practical learning experience. Students are evaluated on their organizational skills, program planning and communication skills with children, parents and colleagues. Activities integrate developmental knowledge and practice and include opportunities to enhance each child’s physical, social, emotional, creative, intellectual and language development.
There is no cost for children to participate in the play program. It runs twice a year, once in December and again in the spring. For more information, contact Pat Wasylik, program chair, at 780 853 8509.
