Your college experience is also what you do outside the classroom--and you have lots of opportunities to grow and learn at Lakeland through recreation, clubs, Rustlers athletics and student leadership. Student Association's (SA) on both campuses organize and sponsor a multitude of events and activities.

How can I get involved with the Students' Association

As soon as school starts, the Students’ Association on Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses will be asking for student volunteers to sit on several committees such as Class Rep Committee, Academic Council, Orientation Planning, Student Grievance and Appeals, yearbook and more. There may also be elections for student executive positions. Ask for details at the Students’ Association Office.
Will I have access to recreation facilities while I'm at Lakeland?

As a student your ID card gives you access to all of the college's recreational facilities on both campuses as long as you wear it. Check bulletin boards, posters and websites for rec activities.
What kind of sports, clubs and activities are there at Lakeland?

Lakeland College has numerous sports teams and clubs for everyone to participate in! Competitive teams include basketball, curling and volleyball. These teams compete in the Alberta College’s Athletic Conference.
Our rowing team competes against universities across Western Canada. Our rodeo team is part of the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and has co-hosted the national finals for several years.
Lakeland also has several sports related clubs including no contact men’s and women’s hockey and rodeo. There is also a competitive judging teams. Other non-competitive clubs include drama, outdoor recreation, Stockman’s, Christian Friends, and enviro. Check out the clubs page.
Students will get the opportunity to learn more about all of Lakeland’s clubs and have the opportunity to sign up at the Club Carnival (Vermilion) and Club Day (Lloydminster).

Will my family be able to use the Vermilion pool for free?

The only time the immediate family of a student can use the pool for free is during the Sunday family swim ( 2 to 3 pm) and Wednesday evenings (6:30 - 8 pm). A parent or guardian must accompany small children.
Can I bring a guest to an SA event?

Yes! Students can sign in a guest to most SA events. Guests must be of legal age to attend SA functions featuring liquor service. You are responsible for your guest.
