How to Access the Library databases:
Click here to go to our Databases and e-resources page.
Click here to go to an alphabetical listing of our databases.  Click on the details link to the right of each database title for a brief description of its subject specialties.  Click on the database title to begin searching.  You will be prompted to login once you select a database.
Click here for a title or subject listing of all full-text journals available online or in print at Lakeland College.  Search for your journal title, or search for a subject area and select the Find It button.  Click on a journal title in the search results to open a page linking you to the databases that contain the journal.  Click on the database name to search the selected journal.  You will be asked to login once you select a database.

How to login:
You will be asked to login after you select a database.  Enter your 13 digit barcode number begining with 143... and your PIN, which is the last four digits of the phone number you gave the College at registration.  Click here for more information about your barcode and PIN.  Please contact the library if you have any problems with your barcode or PIN.

Articles without full text:
If an article in your search results is not full text it will show a green Find It button next to the citation.  This button will lead you to a page that will show you if the article is available full text in any other databases we subscribe to.  It will also show you if the article is available in the print periodicals in the library.  If you would like an article that is available in our print periodicals please send us an e-mail or phone the library.  Your article can be faxed or mailed to you.  The Find It page will also link to our Interlibrary Loan request page.

Interlibrary loan for articles:
If you have selected an article that is not full text, the Find It button next to the citation will lead you to our Interlibrary Loan request page.  Login to the Interlibrary Loan request page with your barcode number and your PIN.  The Interlibrary loan request form will be automatically filled in with the article details and your contact information.  Your article can be faxed or mailed to you.  Please use the NOTES field on the request form to let us know that you are a distance student.  Please supply a fax number or give us your mailing address.

If you have a citation for an article that you can’t find in the databases, you can request an interlibrary loan by filling in the Interlibrary Loan form found here.  Login to the Interlibrary Loan request page with your barcode number and your PIN and fill in the form with all the details you have.  Please use the NOTES field on the request form to let us know that you are a distance student.  Please supply a fax number or give us your mailing address.

SOME ONLINE DATABASES THAT ARE RELEVANT TO YOUR PROGRAM:

GreenFILE
Offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

ACADEMIC SEARCH COMPLETE
Offers information in nearly every area of academic study. This database provides indexing and abstracts for over 8,200 publications, with full text for nearly 4,650 of those titles, over three quarters of which are peer-reviewed. The majority of full-text titles are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color. Full text information in this database dates as far back as 1975.

BIOLOGICAL AND AGRICULTURAL INDEX PLUS (1983-present)
An excellent resource for information related to agriculture and the environment (about 45 per cent of the focus is on agriculture). Periodical coverage includes a wide range of scientific journals from popular to professional, and includes some full text as well as abstracts.

ENVIRONMENT COMPLETE
Contains full text,(includes PDF IMAGE full text) for 400 journals and offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more.

HOW TO SEARCH THE DATABASES:
When searching any of the above databases, you can limit your search to:
• Full-text articles only.
• Limit your search by a specific time period, e.g. 2000 – 2008
• Limit your search to a specific publication, e.g. Alternative Sources of Energy.
• Limit your search to scholarly journals or popular magazines.

Follow the online instructions to perform any of the above functions.
