This summer Lakeland College will host Feast on the Farm, a celebration like no other. Everyone is invited to participate in the first annual event at the Vermilion campus on Saturday, August 20
“Lakeland College’s Feast on the Farm is more than just great food – it’s an experience,” says Georgina Altman, vice president of advancement.  “It’s eating delicious local foods outdoors at the college farm. It’s enjoying the lively music of the talented Laurence Boys. And it’s about celebrating agriculture in Alberta.”feast on the farm logo

Guests will venture outdoors for an entertaining evening at Lakeland’s Barr Farm in support of student leadership opportunities.

“Feast on the Farm is inspired by our humble beginnings as the Vermilion School of Agriculture,” says Altman. “Today, as a global leader in student-managed learning experiences, our goal is to continue to create new opportunities for our students to take the lead.”

From the heavy oil power engineering students who take turns as the shift supervisor in the Energy Centre to generate heat and power for the Lloydminster campus to the agricultural sciences students who run a profitable agribusiness on the Student-Managed Farm – Powered by New Holland, Lakeland students take charge of their education.

Career-relevant, student-managed learning opportunities enable Lakeland students to excel today – just as they have since the college opened in 1913. All proceeds raised at Feast on the Farm will support and enhance these valuable learning experiences that allow Lakeland students to take the lead.

Tickets for Feast on the Farm are $100 each and can be purchased by contacting Event Services at 780 871 5413.

Laurence BoysAbout The Laurence Boys
The Laurence Boys – Joey, Jeremy, Luke and Liam – are a contemporary folk band that has been playing roots music across Alberta for more than 15 years. Raised on a steady diet of Celtic folk and American bluegrass, the brothers were originally known for their energetic shows in the pubs of Strathcona. The band has graduated into an eclectic mix of all the varied musical influences they knew growing up on the Prairies. They offer their unique harmonies and lively renditions of beloved classics and original music.
