Lakeland gears up to host provincial student services conference
Lakeland College will open its doors to delegates from Alberta’s post-secondary education system for the 30th annual Alberta Services for Students Conference May 14 to 17 at the Lloydminster campus. Universities, colleges and technical institutes will be represented. It promises to be a PD opportunity well worth attending.

The sky's the limit for ag student - Almost every young boy dreams of being a pilot when he grows up but Kolten Baker is taking his dreams to another level. Baker, a first-year crop technology student at the Vermilion campus, expects to complete his training and earn his pilot’s license this month. Read more.

Lakeland alum blazing a trail to raise funds for MS
- Meet alum Greg Van Tighem, a 2009 graduate of Lakeland's Bachelor of Applied Business: Emergency Services program and Jasper fire chief. He is also an MS ambassador, a top fundraiser in the Hinton MS Bike Tour, and on a mission to help end MS with his next cycling trip called "ROUTE 93 end to end to end MS". His journey takes place in May, MS Awareness Month. He will pedal approximately 3,000 km from Wickenburg, AZ to Jasper, Alta, on Highway 93. His goal is to raise funds and increase awareness about the disease and how it affects people afflicted, families and those around them.

- Members of this year's Lakeland Rodeo Club hauled in some outstanding results during this year's Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo season as it wrapped in Edmonton at the Canadian National College Finals Rodeo with 25 Lakeland students competing. To get the complete picture click here.

2013 Lakeland Skills Competition
Lakeland College will once again host the Lakeland Regional Skills Competition on April 26. Lakeland has been hosting the event for high school students since 2008. Highly qualified high school competitors from the Lakeland Region will be at the Vermilion Campus competing in:
• electrical
• carpentry
• culinary arts
• welding
• auto mechanics
• cabinet making
• junior & intermediate hairstyling
• television/video production
Spectators are welcome. Come check it out.
