Changes necessary to balance Lakeland’s 2013-2014 budget
A month after learning Lakeland College’s Campus Alberta Grant will decrease 7.3 per cent in 2013-2014, Lakeland College Board of Governors has approved a plan to balance the budget for the next fiscal year. Facing a deficit of almost $4 million for the 2013-2014 fiscal year, substantial changes are needed to balance the budget.

Following input from employees and students plus considerable review and consideration, Lakeland College’s senior executive team has presented its recommendations to the Board of Governors. The board approved the recommendations.

High school students use Lakeland biology lab to solve crime
About 130 young medical examiners took over a Lakeland biology lab last week to analyze evidence from a crime scene and help solve a case of whodunit.
The medical examiners were high school students from Holy Rosary High School and Lloydminster Comprehensive High School. The CSI assignment was provided by the college’s university transfer program.

2013 Skills competition
Alberta's trades future is in good hands. Come see why as more than 70 high school students display their expertise as they take part in the 2013 Skills Competition at the Vermilion campus on Friday, April 26. Categories are electrical, carpentry, culinary arts, welding, auto mechanics, cabinet making, junior & intermediate hairstyling and television/video production. Celebrating student success
It was a tremendous year for Lakeland students! During the 2012-2013 year, 1,050 student recipients at Lakeland received $964,839 in awards during this year’s Awards Night celebrations. The Vermilion campus ceremony was March 20 and the Lloydminster ceremony was March 13. Congratulations!
