Explore Your Renewable Energy Future Video Contest

And the winners are...

CSI logoTheir challenge was to explore their renewable energy future in 90 seconds. When the voting and judging ended, 9 prizes worth more than $5,000 were awarded in 3 categories.

1st place receives an iPad, 2nd place a BOSE sound dock and 3rd place a Samsung camcorder.

Contest Categories & Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in 3 categories:
1. People's choice--highest vote tally
2. Best overall Lakeland College student entry--chosen by judges
3. Best overall open entry (non-Lakeland College entry)--chosen by judges

Each category has 3 prizes:
• 1st prize - iPad 64GB Wifi and 3G plus a case (valued at over $900)
• 2nd prize - Bose Sounddock Portable plus a case (valued at over $470)
• 3rd prize - Samsung Camcorder SMX-F43 Flash plus a case (valued at ~$270)

That’s over $5000 in prizes! Winners will be announced on March 11, 2011.

Additional cash and gift card prizes will be award in random draws through the contest period. Anyone who signs up for contest information and updates on Energize the Future is eligible for those draws.

Note: Lakeland College and the contest sponsors reserve the right to add prizes if content warrants and may not award a prize in the event of insufficient number or quality of entries.



The Rules
• The video must be your own work.
• You must own all copyright for content or have written permission to use copyrighted materials such as music.
• Your video can be a maximum of 90 seconds long.
• Each entrant can only submit one (1) video
• Videos entered in the best Lakeland student category must be produced by current Lakeland College students in any credit program. This includes all certificate, diploma, applied degree and apprenticeship programs.
• The open and people's choice award categories are open to any Canadian citizen 14 years of age and older (Contest void where prohibited).
• Lakeland College student entries are also eligible for open category awards.
• All judged categories are also eligible for the people’s choice award.
• Prizes are awarded to individuals, so if you collaborate with others, only one (1) person can be designated as the entrant. That person must agree to the rules and accept the prize. Lakeland College and contest sponsors are not liable for any disputes between collaborators.
• Only non-commercial videos may be submitted. Videos must not promote any specific brand or company.
• Videos must be original work produced for this contest. Do not submit videos that have been entered into or won any other contests or awards.
• Videos must not be published in any other medium.
• Current Lakeland College employees are not eligible to enter.
• Lakeland College may disqualify any video entry if the video is inappropriate or if it is not scientifically correct.
• To submit a video, click the Enter your video button that will become live on November 15, 2010 and follow the simple steps. Videos must be in one of the following formats: MPEG, AVI, FLV, MOV, or WMV.
• Video submission deadline is February 10, 2011 at 11:59 pm.
• People’s Choice viewing will run from January 1, 2011 to March 1, 2011.
• Winners will be announced on March 11, 2011.
Judging Criteria
Marks were allocated by judges according to the following criteria. The videos that receive the highest weighted scores were awarded the prizes in that category.This does not apply to the People's Choice category. People's Choice was based on number of votes received during the contest period.
