Rustlers claim 4 rodeo season leader titles

Lakeland’s Little Royal Rodeo marked the end of a short, hectic rodeo season and also the time to tally up the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (CIRA) season leader points.

When the arena dust settled, the Rustlers laid claim to 5 CIRA category titles:
• Barrel Racing -- Courtney Primrose (Animal Health Technology)
• Saddle Bronc -- Coleman Watt (Trades)
• Steer Wrestling -- Justin Wagner (Animal Science)
• Breakaway Roping and Pole Bending -- Holly Schuk (Bachelor of Applied Enviro Sciences) Schuk was also CIRA’s High Point Cowgirl.

These Rustler rodeo-ers will now go on to see if they can claim the national title the Canadian National College Rodeo Finals in Edmonton at the end of March.

These 4 won’t be the only Rustlers competing at the finals. A total 20 team members qualified for the finals by placing in the top 10 of their respective events. “Some qualified in in multiple events, and many in the top 5,” says Lee MacMillan, Lakeland’s coach and manager of rodeo operations.
