Men's Basketball Get Commitment From High Flyers

Lakeland College and Coach Sambu are happy to announce the signing of 3 more Students/Athletes to the men's basketball program.


Dominique Brown,
An athletic 6'4" wing  from traditional Ontario provincial power Henry Carr Crusaders,  Brown, who was rated by Jim Thomas's All Ontario Scouting Service as the #7 shooting guard in Ontario in an April, 2007 ranking, He brings tremendous athleticism and leadership.  Brown attended Laurier University for one year where he averaged 12 minutes, 6 points, 2 rebounds and an assist per game. Dominique is looking to complete his Business Accounting Degree at Lakeland College in the Fall.  Lakeland College is very excited to have Dominique in green and gold this coming season.


Justin Bakuteka
Is a 6'1" Guard from Martin Groove Colligate Bears, who were the 2010 OFSSA Division II Ontario Boys Provincial Champions. Justin is a very athletic guard who can get to the rim, or knock down the open jumper. Justin also prides himself on playing great defence which helped lead his team to the championship this past season. Justin will be enrolled in Lakeland College Business School in the fall. Lakeland College would like to welcome Justin to the Rustlers Athletic family.

Christian Harris
Is a 6'5 small forward born in Winnipeg, MB. The 17 years old was an All Star at the Neelin invitational tournament and played in the Manitoba graduating all star game.  Christian is graduating from Windsor Park Collegiate (same school as team mate Colin LaPlante) and plans to take business and has had intentions on playing for Lakeland for the past 3 years.  Parents Chad and Candyce supported Christian by driving him to his "second home" the YMCA, he also received extensive support from his long term girlfriend Sarah.  Harris maintains a solid high school academic average.  Harris attributes his success and his future to Jeremy Martin who has been his coach for the past 3 years in club and varsity basketball.  He always believed in him and helped him develop and get ready for college basketball as well as introduced him to Lakeland College.
