Rowing
Despite the weather-shortened season the 2009-10 rowing team achieved a fair amount of success with their novice women’s eight and women’s quad winning both their races against their competition from Edmonton and Calgary. The women’s quad when on to finish third and fourth in their races in Victoria at the end of October and put a good finish on what was a hard season of training and racing. We are looking forward to hosting our second ever regatta Saturday September 25 in the Vermilion Provincial Park.
If the crews want to repeat the same level of success in the coming season they will have to do it without many of the veterans that graduated this year including four year veteran Lacey Longworth. The women’s Crew will be captained by third year rower (and Canada summer games provincial team member) April Stanko. The men’s crew will be very much in a rebuilding year with only 1 second year rower returning, last year’s rookie of the year Morgan Husereau.
Rustler Crew welcomes any athletes who are interested in the ultimate team sport, who don’t mind a full body workout and who like to have fun with their sport!!
