Rustler Crew 2012 - 2013
Preview: After the banner season they had last year the Women’s Rustler Crew have their work cut out for them if they hope to take their rowing to the next level. Taking the provincial novice title for a second year and finishing second at the Western Canadian University rowing championships (WCURC ) was quite an achievement. There are five returning crew members including last year’s Rookie of the year, Dawn Rosset and the Spirit Award winner Danielle Walker. They will lead the women into action with some of the new recruits including the Birchfield sisters from Saskatoon.
The Men’s Crew is hoping to improve on last year’s fourth place finish at the WCURC’s. They also have five returning crew members including the entire WCURC mens four led by 3rd year rower Richard Ellens and last year’s Rookie of the year, Ryan Lutz. With the addition of two or three promising novices the men could put a very strong crew on the water this fall.
So with some good old fashioned hard work on the water and with our fleet including some of the fastest boats in the province the potential for Lakeland to improve its position in the collegiate rowing scene is very real.
