Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP)
As a post-secondary educational institution in Alberta, Lakeland College is governed by the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).
Lakeland College is committed to the privacy of our students, staff, and visitors. The college has established the following policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the personal information from unauthorized access or disposition.

When you enter Lakeland College property you enter public space where photography, audio and video recordings may take place. By entering Lakeland College you acknowledge that photography, audio and video recording may occur in public space, such as outside, the cafeteria, and commons. By entering the event premises, you consent to:
Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote similar Lakeland College events in the future, highlight the event and exhibit the capabilities of Lakeland College. You release the Board of Governors of Lakeland College, its employees, representatives and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing or publication and use of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or sound recordings. By entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, web casting, televising or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, web casting or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video or audio recording taken by Lakeland College or the person or entity designated to do so by Lakeland College. |
Access requests |
There are 2 types of access requests: informal and formal. The majority of requests for access to information or correction to personal information under the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act can be handled informally by making a direct request to the department responsible for the information. Formal requests for information can be directed to the attention of the FOIP Coordinator. Formal requests include:
All formal requests should be submitted directly to the FOIP coordinator. The normal processing time for a request is a 30-day period. This period doesn't begin until the application and any associated fees have been received by the college's risk and compliance office. |
