NKBA Accreditation - Overview
Now we have founding member status, one of only 32 schools with that accreditation in North America.
Lakeland first earned full NKBA accreditation in 2000. This means Lakeland’s kitchen and bath curriculum met the educational standards established by the NKBA.
Programs with an average score of 90 or better receive an Excellence in Education Award. To date, Lakeland College has earned this distinction 7 times. Most recently we were named the 2017 Interior Design College of the Year.
There is a student NKBA chapter on campus giving students an opportunity for professional development and networking while they're still in school. And, students who graduate from an NKBA accredited program are also uniquely qualified to earn an NKBA certification designation
NKBA student competitions have showcased both Lakeland’s program and students.
Lakeland currently has had students succeed in those competitions for 15 consecutive years.
See the NKBA competition page and feature stories for more about those wins.
