Master woodcraft and other skills as a carpenter.
During your apprenticeship you’ll learn how to build, repair and renovate residential, commercial and institutional buildings.
Your training includes how to:
- read blueprints and/or get instructions from a supervisor/instructor
- do a layout--select materials, plan sequence and work method, measure and mark materials
- cut and shape materials
- join materials with nails, screws, bolts or glue
- check completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb, and the right size, shape and location
Your carpentry apprenticeship is 4 years. You have 8-week technical training period and a minimum of 1,560 hours of on-the-job training per year.
Your journeyman career could be as a generalist who works in residential, commercial or maintenance construction. You might choose to specialize in one type of work such as framing, bench work or finishing work
