You should know
- Take up to 2 pre-professional years at Lakeland College and then transfer to MacEwan.
- You would take 57 credits (19 courses) at Lakeland
- You must also take SOWK 240 Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare from MacEwan. Between year 1 and year 2 is the best option as it must be completed by May 1 of the year you plan to transfer (for a September admission).
- 2.5 is the minimum GPA you need to apply. Competitive GPA may be higher
- Your application also requires a résumé, personal/professional profile and reference letters

- ENGL 112 (6 credit, 2 semester)
- PSYCO 104 &105
- SOC 100 &102
- NS 110 & 111
- 2-3 electives
Year Two:
- 2 or more of PSYCO 223,233, 241, 339 and 341
- 2 or more of SOC 224, 242, 271, 225 and 282
- Native studies if not taken in first year
- Other electives or more of the psychology and sociology courses

You should know
- You may take up to 2 years of pre-professional studies at Lakeland before transferring to the U of C.
- 19 courses (57 credits) are required before applying. That would mean up to 5 courses per semester at Lakeland. English (ENGL 112 is a 6 credit full term course), so first year would be this course plus 4 more each semester.
- You must also take Introduction to Social Work (SOWK 101) as a spring or summer course generally after year 2.
- Choose where you want to take the U of C BSW program online, at the Calgary campus, in Edmonton, in Lethbridge and through learning circles in Red Deer, Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat.
- Although March 1 is the deadline for your complete application, you are encouraged to apply early. Documents include your résumé, an essay and contact information for your references.
