Applicant FAQ in COVID-19 Crisis
You probably have questions if
- you’ve been accepted
- you’ve been conditionally accepted,
- you’ve applied to Lakeland
- you're thinking about applying.
First, we are planning for a another new academic year in Fall 2021.
Below are some common questions we're getting and the adjustments we’re making due to COVID-19 restrictions.
If we haven't answered your question, please email us at admissions@lakelandcollege.ca.
High School Marks
High School Marks
If you aren't from Alberta, check the provincial subject equivalencies.
You need to meet the minimum required grade for your program.
Diploma exams, or not
If you are an Alberta student who chooses not to write diploma exams, your acceptance will be based on your school mark.
Our policy is to accept the better of the school mark or the diploma mark, as long as you've been awarded full credits. In other words, if you choose not to write diploma exams, have passed your courses and been given provincial credit, Lakeland will accept those marks. The same thing applies if you went to high school outside of Alberta. If your province has made mandatory diploma exams are optional this year and you are granted provincial credit in that course with your school provided grades, then Lakeland will accept those marks. You will need to provide an official transcript from your provincial/territorial education department.
AHT & VMA Work Experience
AHT & VMA Work Experience
Don't worry if you haven't begun your work experience hours or can't complete them due to COVID-19.
Your seat in the program is safe.
In the months ahead, once it is safe to do so, please reach out to your vet clinic to reschedule your work experience.
It's our hope that you can still gain this valuable exposure to the work that happens in a vet clinic before you start your program in September.
Once the crisis is over and circumstances don't allow you to do work experience, please contact our admission team at admissions@lakelandcollege.ca. We'll make that note on your file
