Rachael's Story
This time of year can be hard. Despite the shopping, and preparations for the Christmas season, the pressures of exams, financial strain, academic challenges, and mental health issues can be difficult for students to endure.
Many students experience these hurdles that could derail their educational journey. This underscores the serious need for student support services on campus.
Meet Rachael
Rachael was a student in our Environmental Sciences program. Her first attempt at post-secondary education fell to pieces, and she felt alone on her path, without anyone to guide her.
When Rachael decided to go back to school at Lakeland, she was scared of taking another risk and failing again. Adapting to new study habits and balancing home life with school pressures were more challenges she had to face.
She reminded herself that fearing failure isn’t a reason not to try.
Rachael’s story is a powerful testament to the positive change we can create together. Her experience underscores the critical role that you play in a student’s ability to thrive.
How You Can Help
Right now, students are in dire need of support systems to overcome their obstacles.
Your donation will support that need and ensure students have help in a crisis.
Nearly 30% of post-secondary students in Canada report that stress adversely affects their academic performance, with 20% struggling with loneliness during their college years.
These statistics underscore the urgency of our mission.
Together, we can give students the strong start they need for a lifetime of well-being.
I urge you not to wait. Your donation today will set the foundation for countless students.
A gift to student success will help students deal with the challenges and pressures of academic life and find their footing to get back on track.
Our online donation page is available 24 hours. Please make your donation on or before December 31, 2024 to receive your tax benefit.
To make your donation over the phone, call Jordana at 780 853 8703 during regular business hours, until December 19 at 4 pm.
