What we do
If you have a documented disability, accessibility services is here to help you. Contact us as soon as you are accepted in a Lakeland program.
Accessibility is about connecting students to accommodations, resources, and services they need to achieve their academic goals.
Sometimes a little support is the ticket to success. Sometimes it's an exam reader. Sometimes it's a piece of software. It depends on your needs.
Many of our services involve academic accommodations. Some examples include:
- exam accommodations such as extra time, quiet environment or readers/scribes
- other services such as note takers, taping lectures and tutors
- accessibility audits if you use mobility supports
Besides academic accommodations we also provide:
- adaptive and assistive technologies such as screen readers and special keyboards
- enhanced services designed especially for your circumstances including study, learning and technology strategies
- instructor resources for accessible classrooms and accessibility requirements
- general awareness about the broad range of disabilities to help everyone understand disabilities
