Awards Bursaries and Scholarships
You need to think about both internal (Lakeland College) and external (all the other) awards and scholarships that may be available to you.

Also, don't forget to check out possible awards offered outside of Lakeland. We list some of those options in our external awards page, but this is just a sample. We also suggest:
- Checking around your community for other opportunities.
- Organizations that you, your parents or even your grandparents belong to may also have a scholarship or bursary.
- Does the company you or your parents work for offer scholarships?
- Checking out organizations related to your program of study—they may have an award.
- Checking national listings (some of which are included on our external awards page) for scholarship listings.

Bursaries The primary qualifying criteria is financial need. Eligible students must maintain satisfactory academic standing. Students can apply for bursaries starting mid-October. Bursaries are paid in January when semester 2 full-time enrolment is confirmed. Awards Require academic achievement, but also consider criteria such as community involvement, volunteerism, perseverance and other factors. Students can apply for some awards is January, and some in March. Refer to the new awards platform for specific award criteria and application period. Awards applied for in January are paid in March. Awards applied for in March are paid in September when return to full-time studies is confirmed. Scholarships These weigh more heavily on academic excellence and are often of a higher value. They sometimes include criteria related to leadership in the community or college. Students can apply for some scholarships is January, and some in March. Refer to the new awards platform for specific scholarship criteria and application period. Scholarships applied for in January are paid in March. Scholarships applied for in March are paid in September when return to full-time studies is confirmed. |
