What should I bring? |
Settling into residence requires you bring things to make the room your own and to add to your personal comfort. Here are needed and optional items. You’ll need:

What not to bring? |
|
Will I share a bathroom? |
Yes, bathrooms will be shared. In Lloydminster, spinwheels have two levels with four bedrooms and a bathroom on each level. So 4 people share. In Vermilion:

Where will I eat? |
While you can cook at residence in a communal cooking area, you might not always want to. If this is the case, you can drop in for a breakfast or lunch at the cafeteria. |
Where will I park? |
Good news – parking fees are included in your res fees. Passes are for scramble parking anywhere in the specific residence lots. |
Where do I get a residence application? |
Once you are accepted in your program, you will receive a link to our new online residence application. First you will need to "Update your Credentials" and log in using your new account information. Complete the online application and make your payment of $550 — $50 non-refundable application fee and $500 security deposit. This payment can be made through your online banking provider and details can be found on the last page of your application. Family housing applicants only pay the application fee until they are assigned a house. Their security deposit of one month's rent is due at that time. If you change your mind about living in residence, as long as you give us two weeks-notice before you move in, your complete deposit is returned to you. |
Social, studious, alcohol-free, mature – what do those mean on the application form? |
You can choose what type of dorm environment you'd like to live in. During the application process, you'll see alcohol free, social, and academic. Choose the right atmosphere for you. The alcohol-free dorm doesn't permit alcohol anywhere inside the dorm. People may consume alcohol elsewhere and then return to the dorm. In Vermilion, we have a mature dorm option. The mature dorm is intended for anyone who wants a slightly quieter and more study-focused environment. Generally, students in the mature dorm are 21 years old or older. |
Where can I do laundry? |
More good news. You don’t need quarters to do your laundry. In the main Vermilion dorms, laundry facilities are in the basement. In the dorm townhouses, your washer and dryer are in the bathroom. In the Delta townhouse, laundry units are at the end of each building (yes, you do have to go outside). In Lloydminster, washers and dryers located in the Prairies building. |
What’s an RA? |
You can think of your residence assistant (RA) as your activity director, mentor, confidante, team member, shoulder to cry on, counsellor, and dorm authority all wrapped up into one. RAs are there to help you settle into residence, have fun, and meet new people while making sure rules are being followed.
They can also assist you if you have locked yourself out of your dorm or bedroom. Make sure to add the RA on-call number to your cellphone when you arrive in Residence Village.

What does co-ed mean? |
All of our Vermilion residence buildings are co-ed. Males and females live in the same building. In the dorms only the same gender share a bathroom. |
