SIN Number Help
Why do I need to provide my Social Insurance Number (SIN)? |
Your SIN is required on all income tax forms. Lakeland provides a T2202 form to both you and the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA). CRA requires Lakeland to submit details for all of our students about eligible tuition fees and months of instruction. If you claim deductions for attending post-secondary education, this information is used to validate your tax return. |
What if I don't have or don't know my SIN? |
If you don’t have a social insurance number or don’t know what your number is, you can skip entering it or provide it later. As a reminder, you will be asked to provide your SIN every time you log in until this task is completed. |
How do I enter my SIN? |
We strongly recommend that you do this on a laptop or desktop computer as this page isn’t configured for a mobile device. Log into My Lakeland. Select the SIN Entry Tile. In the box, enter your social insurance number. Don’t add spaces or dashes. A SIN has just 9 digits. Click on Add. The program will run a validation check on the SIN you have entered. If the number entered doesn’t meet the criteria provided by the federal government, you’ll see this error message: |
