Understanding academic fees
Tuition is the major mandatory fee you will pay at Lakeland College. However, it is not the only mandatory fee.
There are both mandatory instructional and non-instructional fees.
This page lists the different types of fees that you will pay, and some fees that you may pay during the course of the admission process or during the academic year.

Tuition/mandatory instructional fees
Total instructional mandatory fees include tuition and course specific fees.
- Fees will vary according to program enrolled in, the number of courses and credits taken, or course specific fees assessed.
- Tuition fees are adjusted each year according to the regulations of Alberta's Tuition Fee Policy.
Mandatory non-instructional fees
These mandatory fees supports academic and health services, athletics as well as access to recreational facilities and other services.

Students' Association fees |
The Lakeland College Students' Association assesses a membership fee from all students enrolled in credentialed programs. The fees for 2024-25 are $286 on both campuses. The students' association advocates for all students and their concerns on a local, provincial, and national level. The SA provides several bursaries and other awards each year. They also provide:

Specific program fees |
These fees cover costs associated with specific courses that are not directly related to instruction. Fees will vary depending upon course selection. |
International student fees |
For 2022-23 base international tuition is $18,300. In specific programs, the tuition may be higher. Tuition deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. |
Books, supplies, field trip and practicum expenses |
You are responsible for the cost of classroom materials, books and equipment, field trips, and practicum expenses. Check out our fee calculator page for an estimate of your programs' expenses. |
Refunds |
Application fees and tuition deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. For most 8-month programs, there are specific dates for different levels of refunds based on when you withdraw. That schedule can be found on the academic year and term dates page. For apprenticeship training periods, if you withdraw up to 5 working days before the first day of class you'll receive a full refund minus a $100 administration fee. If you've started class, there isn't a refund. Refund policies for continuing education courses are listed in the course details on the online registration platform. |
