Travelling to Lakeland College
Travel by air
The quickest way to travel to Lakeland College from abroad is via air.
While the closest international airport is in Edmonton, we recommend you fly into Calgary (YYC) and then connect to a flight to Lloydminster (YLL).
In most cases you won't fly directly to Calgary. It's more likely you'll arrive in one of Canada's larger cities—Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver. At this first Canadian stop you'll go through customs and immigration. When you book your next connection, please give yourself enough time to clear immigration.
The reasons we strongly suggest you fly through Calgary to Lloydminster is for easier ground transportation.
- If you land in Edmonton (the closest international airport), our Vermilion campus is still a minimum of 2.5 hours away by vehicle. The Lloydminster campus is another half hour.
- There is no train to either of our campus communities.
- There are small bus companies, but you'd need to find a way from the airport to their Edmonton departure points. A taxi from the airport to downtown Edmonton is around $60. There is information about travel into Edmonton from the airport on the Where Canada site as well as on the Edmonton International Airport site (you'll find bus and car service options).
So we recommend you book flights to Calgary and then take a WestJet flight to Lloydminster.
