Admin Support Training
Three levels of training
Build skills to get a job or for further training through Lakeland's three levels of administrative support programs.
Bookkeeping, accounting and other office jobs are available - people with those skills are in demand.
All levels of this training offer face-to-face instruction 6 hours a day over a 3 month period as well as 120 hours of work experience. See below for details.
Level one is an introduction to the business world where you start learning basic office skills.
You grow your skills in Level II.
Finally, gain more confidence in yourself and your software skills with our 17-week pre-administrative professional course. Your next step could be our administrative professional certificate.
Eligibility
If you are an unemployed Saskatchewan or Alberta resident and are at least 18-year old, this program may be for you.
Tuition is covered if you are from Saskatchewan. Alberta residents do have to pay a fee but may be eligible for funding.
You don't need any previous courses to take the first level. If you finish level one, then you may go on to level 2.
Administrative Support 1 | ||||||
Learn both hard and soft skills in this first level of our administrative support program. Both types of skills are needed in the working world. Hard skills include basic computer skills such as how to keyboard (type) and create documents. You'll move on to business writing, math and presentation skills. Soft skills include customer service training. You'll also learn about organization, time management and decision-making skills. Career planning and job search are also part of the program. Pre-requisite: Administrative Support 1 or Digital Literacy for Employment Builds on skills in Administrative Support I. Can build on pre-requisites and admission requirements for Lakeland's administrative professional certificate. You'll study and learn about:

Pre-administrative Professional | ||||||
Pre-requisite: Administrative Support 2 or placement based on previous education/experience. Increase your digital literacy as you build your job skills. Completing the course also is a pathway into Lakeland's Administration Professional certificate. Every student will have daily access to a laptop computer. Advance your computer keyboarding skills and learn basic accounting. It's also a chance for you to work on soft skills that make you more employable such as communication. A key piece of the program is personal development and setting you up for success. Classes will be a blend of online and face-to-face delivery. The program includes a 128 hour practicum where you can put what you learned into action. Course topics include:
