AST Equine Science Major Admissions and Graduation Requirements

Admission Requirements

High school diploma with a minimum 50% in:

• English 30-1 or 65% in English 30-2
• One of Biology 20, Chemistry 20, Physics 20, or Science 20
• Math 20-1 or Math 20-2

If you didn’t graduate from an Alberta high school, please refer to the English, Math and Science provincial subject equivalencies.

If you don’t meet the admission requirements, please refer to special admissions

If you apply and meet  these admission requirements, you must provide a video demonstrating your riding skills. This will be used to help you select a suitable horse.

High school credits from the Green Certificate program may be used to meet certain deficiencies in admission requirements. Decisions are about made by the agricultural sciences department chair.

Horse Requirement

You are required to supply your own tack and horse. A 3 or 4-year-old gelding stock horse is preferred. Program staff may help you select a suitable horse.​

Graduation Requirements

When you complete the requirements with a minimum grade point average of 2.0, you will be awarded an Animal Science Technology: Equine Science diploma.
