ASL microcredentials
Earn up to 4 microcredentials in American Sign Language (ASL) through Lakeland College.
The courses are Learn ASL 1 through Learn ASL 4.
Offered online, the courses build on skills as you go through. You'll read online materials and watch video clips. You'll learn through practice. Your instructor will do progress checks as you work on understanding and fluency.
Each of the four courses is offered in an asynchronous format. There are no set class times. You work at your own pace but must finish a course in 12 weeks.
As an added bonus, you may bundle these four courses and earn credits toward Lakeland's American Sign Language and Deaf culture studies certificate program.
Courses
While the goal is for you to use conversational American Sign Language, the courses also introduce you to Deaf culture and appropriate cultural behaviours.
Each course costs $362 and registration will be through Lakeland's online registration system.
