Energy Learning in Action
Immerse yourself in the inner working of power engineering.
At Lakeland College, your hands-on experience starts in the Cenovus Power Engineering lab and then moves to the Energy Centre.
Our Energy Centre is one of the best equipped and modern steam labs in Canada. Commissioned in 2015, it includes different high pressure boilers including water and fire tube.
You’ll learn and work on part of shift team. In fact, you'll event lead a shift in the Energy Centre.
Our experienced power engineer instructors will teach and mentor you.
Industry practicums are another essential part of your program. Not only do you put what you’ve learned into action, you also gain connections to potential career paths.
Work for Lakeland
You can also work for Lakeland while you complete your education. Every year, a select number of students are hired as weekend operators at our Lloydminster campus.
The Energy Centre runs continuously and student operators are responsible for weekend operations, including water analysis on boiler waters, maintaining production rates and assisting with the steam generators.
With this real-world experience, you put what you learn into practice immediately and build your resume.
