Admissions requirements
- High school diploma with a minimum of:
- 50% in English 30-1 or 30-2
- 50% in Math 30-1 or 65% in Math 30-2
- 50% in Physics 20
- Proof of English language proficiency
Notes:
- If you completed high school outside of Alberta, check provincial subject equivalents.
- If you don’t have the academic requirements, you may qualify through special admissions.
- If you are an International student, check eligible programs.
Direct Entry into 2nd year
Direct entry to year two of the Process and Power Engineering Program is competitive.
Applicants must have successfully completed the first year of the program with a 65% or higher in each course and possess an Alberta Boilers safety Association 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency. External applicants who have an ABSA 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency may gain admission if they meet the admission requirements (see above). Admission is subject to seat availability.
Note: Out of province applicants with a 4th Class certification will need to transfer their license to Alberta.
Applicants will need to obtain credits in all four 1st year Heavy Oil courses, either by transfer credit or enrolling into the online courses. In addition, students will need to obtain credit for CO 109 Technical Communications or take it their 1st semester of studies.

Safety tickets |
Safety tickets are a requirement so you may enter our labs and attend your practicums. All tickets should have an expiry date that is later than your program's end date. If your ticket expires before you complete the program, you'll have to retake the training. 1. H2S Alive

Math assessment |
If you are a 1st year student, you must complete a preliminary math assessment. These assessments are part of the program Registration Day. Registration Day is mandatory. |

Enrolment is the final step after you've been accepted, paid your tuition deposit, and the timetable has been set.

Recognition of prior learning |
If you completed relevant courses at another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for transfer credit. Apply for transfer credit at least 2 months before classes start by completing the transfer credit form. Review all of the other ways Lakeland does prior learning assessments. |

Graduation requirements
When you complete the program requirements with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.30 and have attended at least 80% of your classes, you will be awarded a Process and Power Engineering diploma.
If you leave the program after successfully completing the 1st year requirements, you are eligible for a Power Engineering Technician certificate.
