To work as a barber in Alberta, you must be a registered apprentice, a certified journeyperson or have a valid recognized credential from another province.
Barbers are part of two trends.
One is barbers and barber shops. Some clients are looking for the traditional barbershop feel of camaraderie. But people also want that experience to expand to higher quality services and pampering along with the socializing.
Another emerging trend is in unisex cuts. Barbers, particularly hair cut specialists, work with anyone with cuts from clipper short to long layers.
